Basmati rice is typically grown in the foothills of the Himalaya and is a variety of long grain rice. It has a tastier and slightly more aromatic flavour than other white rice. Use in place of any other rice – eat hot or cold. Can also be gently fried with onions/garlic/spices just before adding the water – ‘pilaf method’.
To cook, rinse before adding approx. 65g of rice per person to a pot of salted water or stock that is about an inch above the rice. Bring to the boil and then gently simmer with lid on (no stirring) for approx. 12 minutes until gains are cooked through but not too soft (top up with a splash of water if rice looks dry too soon). Drain any remaining water and replace lid to steam for a short while.

PACKAGING
All dried food orders are packed in home compostable brown paper bags. Some food items contain natural oils which may be absorbed by the brown paper bags. Some natural oils may seep through onto other items. We recommend putting your dried food items in airtight or semi airtight containers to retain freshness.
