MORE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT AND HOW TO USE/COOK
Haricot beans need soaking (over night 8 to 10 hours ideally) in at least twice the volume of cold water, before being cooked. Rinse after soaking and cook in water (best salted and maybe chuck in a bay leaf and a garlic clove) or stock at least 3 times the volume of beans. Bring to the boil and simmer for approx. 45 mins (keep checking they have enough water and/or do not over-cook).
Haricot beans are highly nutritious. Best known as the beans in ‘backed beans’ - they are also called Navy beans because of their extensive use at sea in the 19th century! They will hold their shape nicely and are great in stews and casseroles. Also good in salads dressed with a tasty, lemony oil and black pepper. Can be pureed in a blender to make into dips.
